"Is Google Making us Stupid?"

Nicholas Carr’s essay “Is Goggle Making us Stupid” claims that the Internet are making it harder and harder for us to focus and learn things. Carr supports his ideas by pointing out a couple interesting findings.  Carr talks about how reading long pieces of writing has gotten to be a struggle for him, before he could fall into the reading and now he finds his brain wandering off the subject he is writing. Another thing is points out is that instead of learning information we rely on the internet to give us the information with in a couple of seconds instead of reading a book to find the answer. It used to be quality comes first now its just efficiency and immediacy in the world of the internet these days. Lastly Carr states that the internet is taking away out ability to do deep thinking on our own to solves problems. In the end Carr’s idea is that  if we rely on computer to much to much it squashes our ability to learn information because the answers are only a click away.

How I relate Carr’s finding with my blogs topic on social media and bullying is simple. If people didn’t spend as much time on the internet they would be able to take a step back and think about what they are doing. However right now they just type away without thinking about that they are saying.  If the people doing cyber bullying took time to read about the effects of bullying and how it really harms people, I think that there would be less bullying out there. People just don’t take the time to read and think about these things because they are busy with social media.
